Through one of the hardest times in my life, I gained a new appreciation and sense of purpose in the different ways I get to show up for the people in my life and
strive to make a difference.
As I walked up a flight of stairs, my legs felt weak. A few days later, I couldn’t open a Gatorade bottle. Within days, I couldn’t lift my arms or legs. Eventually, doctors diagnosed me with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological condition where the immune system attacks the nerves. At my worst, I could hardly move.
One of the things I kept thinking about while in my hospital bed was that just a week earlier, my son Nathan had asked me to play with him. But I was too busy, on track to have my best year in real estate. I kept replaying that moment in my head. It motivated me to get out of the hospital, into rehab, and eventually back home walking again.

Nathan was born in 2016 while we were living in Jacksonville, Florida. Getting to that point wasn’t easy. We tried all the treatments out there, including several rounds of IVF. Eventually, we started the adoption process. Just as we were finishing it up, we tried one final IVF cycle. And they finally figured out the medication needed to make it work. When Nathan was born, our lives changed so much, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him.
I was working in banking and later in education at a Christian school during our time in Jacksonville. Eventually, we decided to move back to North Carolina to be closer to Melissa’s parents. Her mom’s health was declining, and we wanted to help. Family really is everything. I’m so appreciative of my in-laws, my father and stepmom, and my mom, who passed, but has had the strongest impact on my values and who I am.
As we settled here, I started working in property management, but it didn’t take long to realize that wasn’t where I was supposed to be. I wanted to help people in a way that I wasn’t able to as a property manager. My boss had paid for my real estate license, knowing that was the right path for me. Real estate let me serve people, and in those early years of my career, it probably took more time away from my family than I realized.

But when I got sick, I swung too far the other way. I just wanted to be with my family. I lost momentum and wasn’t reaching out to people or making those connections. I forgot why I started real estate in the first place.
It was my team lead, O’Neal, who helped pull me back. She asked me directly, “Do you still want this?” She knew what I’d been through and that I had it in me to do well in real estate. I just needed that initial passion brought back into focus.
I remembered why I had chosen this path to begin with: because I love serving people. That was something my mom modeled every day of her life. She was the most faith-filled, compassionate person I’ve ever known. In many ways, I’ve wanted to carry that forward. Real estate gives me the opportunity to do that, to help people through major life decisions with honesty and care.
That conversation with O’Neal, someone I trust and deeply respect, snapped me back into the realization that I didn’t need to choose between being there for my family and doing work I care deeply about. I just needed to find that balance again.

So, I dove back into real estate, but this time with a better perspective on how to balance it all. And in the past few years, I have continued to help more people. You really can have it all.
I’m a father, a husband, a person of faith, and someone who’s built a life around serving others. I now see the value in showing up fully in each of those roles, because they don’t take away from one another—they strengthen each other.
In the times I’ve needed most, someone has been there to support me, remind me what I’m striving for, and believe in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. To have someone like that in your corner makes all the difference. And in real estate, that is the kind of calm, unwavering support I provide my clients. Because buying or selling a home is often stressful, but I do everything in my power to reduce that stress by offering honest guidance, breaking things down so they are easy to understand, and truly walking my clients through everything so they are never in it alone. I’m constantly educating myself and finding new ways to add value for my clients, because at the end of the day, the more knowledge and skill I have, the better representative and advocate I can be for you.
I make the process personal because I really am in this for you. To do that, I take time to understand your needs, your goals, and what matters most to you in this move. From there, it’s about setting clear expectations and making sure every decision we make lines up with what you’re trying to accomplish. I’m here to protect your best interests, not just close a deal, and to serve as a lifelong real estate resource you can count on!
Sincerely,
